Set Up Two-Factor Authentication (MFA)

How to set up and manage multi-factor authentication on your Noble Schools account, including what to do when it stops working.

Set Up Two-Factor Authentication (MFA)

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) adds a second layer of security to your Noble Schools account. After entering your password, you will be asked to verify your identity via your phone or an authenticator app.

First-Time Setup

  1. Go to https://aka.ms/mfasetup and sign in with your school account.
  2. Click Add sign-in method.
  3. Choose your preferred method:
    • Authenticator app (recommended) — Works on iPhone or Android. Install Microsoft Authenticator from the App Store or Google Play first.
    • Phone — Text message — A code is sent to your cell phone via SMS.
    • Phone — Call — You receive an automated phone call to approve the login.
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete setup.

Using the Microsoft Authenticator App (Recommended)

  1. Install Microsoft Authenticator on your iPhone or Android phone.
  2. Open the app and tap Add account → Work or school account → Scan QR code.
  3. Scan the QR code shown on the setup page on your computer.
  4. When prompted to sign in on your computer, open the Authenticator app and approve the notification.

I Do Not Have a Smartphone

If you do not have an Android or iPhone, choose the Phone — Call option during setup and use your classroom or office extension number. Contact IT if you need help configuring this option.

Common Problems

"Authentication is not strong enough" — Your account has been set to require a stronger method. Sign in to aka.ms/mfasetup and upgrade from SMS to the Authenticator app.

"Can only log in on my classroom computer" — Your classroom computer remembers your authentication, but other devices require a fresh verification. Make sure your phone is nearby with the Authenticator app installed so you can approve the login.

Lost access to your authentication method — If you have a new phone or lost your old one, contact IT immediately. A technician can reset your MFA registration so you can set it up again.
